The Jubilee Inn was built in 1936 and was once frequented by the legendary film star, Terry Thomas, whose family lived here in the 1960s and 70s. It has recently undergone a complete renovation and extension to create an quirky but comfortable family home!
Located on the Devon and Somerset borders – we live within easy access of Exmoor and all the activities that come with the glorious National Park, as well as being within easy reach of the Exmoor coastline.
There are a wealth of activities to enjoy on Exmoor, including fishing, foraging, hunting, hawking, riding, painting, writing, shooting, star-gazing and walking, enjoyed according to the season. It’s a great place to live and visit. We recommend the country life to anyone in need of soul comfort!
Our house is situated directly on the Two Moors Way (hiking territory), stretching from Dartmoor to Exmoor and surrounded by some of the most outstanding scenery in the UK. Even our night skies have become renowned worldwide. Exmoor has recently been acknowledged as the first European International Dark-Sky Reserve boasting an incredible panorama of stars for those who wish to look to the heavens for inspiration, or even if the children simply want to find the biggest and brightest start before bedtime, it’s a stunning view here in Devon.
The breath-taking scenery has been a wealth of inspiration for artists and writers alike with Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Thomas Hardy, Jane Austen, Arthur Conan Doyle, RD Blackmore, Alfred Munnings and Samuel Taylor Coleridge all finding inspiration here in Devon and on Exmoor. Are you looking for creativity? If so, maybe a trip to Devon and our Exmoor might be just the ticket with plenty of local B&B’s and guesthouses available?
We support many charities and our local community given the location of our home and it’s history. We love to see the house alive with people and laughter, and of course, we love food!
